New York City based Plastic surgeon Dr. Sophie Bartsich specializes in aesthetic and reconstructive surgery. It is no surprise that her areas of expertise concerns the female silhouette, especially breast enhancement, body contouring and jaw and neckline contouring, as her educational and professional background combines design, art appreciation, psychology and medicine.
Dr. Bartsich was born and raised in New York City. She was educated in the French school system, at the famed Lycée Français de New York, and learned early on to appreciate an international aesthetic. She completed the rigorous French Baccalaureat degree in biology, with distinctions. She then pursued an undergraduate degree in psychology at Cornell University, where she explored concepts of personality, individuality, cultural awareness, gender identity and self-confidence.
Dr. Bartsich returned to New York City to earn an Associate of Applied Science graduate degree at Parsons School of Design, where she learned and trained with some of the world’s preeminent designers, including the fashion house of Calvin Klein. She continued her education with international art and language programs, but ultimately returned to her first love: surgery.
Dr Bartsich specializes in cosmetic breast surgery, with a focus on restoring volume and contour for women with pregnancy or age-related changes of the breasts and body.
EDUCATION + ACCOLADES
After completing her premedical studies at Columbia University, she earned her medical degree at the Weill Cornell Medical College in Manhattan. She was then accepted into the independent program in Plastic Surgery at New York Presbyterian Hospital, where she quickly realized that becoming a plastic surgeon satisfied all of her interests, combining her passion for art, psychology, design and surgery.
As a resident, Dr. Bartsich was awarded a research grant to pursue studies in implant-based breast surgery. This research won two awards at the National Aesthetic Meeting in 2011, and ultimately became the basis for her academic endeavors. She has since been published in several peer-reviewed journals, and has spoken at local and national conferences regarding avoidance of complications of aesthetic breast surgery.
