Tropical Vacations, Yoga, Rare Jewelry, And Saunas: Here's The Charlotte's Book Community Wishlist For 2017
According to successful people everywhere, we should all be writing down the things we want—whether they're long-term goals or things we hope to get done tomorrow. If you write down the things you want, professionally, personally, and everything in between, you're way more likely to actually make them happen. So, that's what we did. We asked the Charlotte's Book community about their wants this holiday season and into 2018: the gifts they're crossing their fingers for, the trips they're dreaming about, and the products they'd love to get their hands on. Now, some of these are a bit more realistic than others, but the first step to turning something into reality is to write it down. So, no matter how reasonable or lavish, here it is: our wishlist.
APRIL GARGIULO, FOUNDER, VINTNER'S DAUGHTER:
“I would love to spend the month of January in José Ignacio, Uruguay with my family. We would exist on sun, surf, and whatever La Huella wanted to serve that day. And if I had to pick a thing, it would be something from Metier in San Francisco. I covet everything they have.”
BOBBI BROWN, BEAUTY LEGEND + ENTREPRENEUR:
“I’d like the gift of calm, which isn’t easy for me. I’d love a combination of design updates in my home from Michael Aiduss and cabinet organization by Done & Done Home. As someone who always has a ton of thoughts and ideas, it’s really nice to live in a visually organized atmosphere.”
ALLISON TRAY, FOUNDER, TRES BELLE SPA:
"This year I am full on lusting after this Case Study planter for the waiting area at my spa, and one for my apartment too, please! Don't tell anyone, but now that Tres Belle Spa is training with French superstars Biologique Recherche, I find myself wanting every single one of their exquisite bottles lining my bathroom shelves. And with winter being my favorite time to be in upstate New York, I am anticipating a long weekend at The Forsyth B & B celebrating Donald Trump's downfall with a glass of Vintage Krug in my hand. Last but certainly not least, I want women to be left the EFF alone, right now and always."
HEATHER MARR, PERSONAL TRAINER:
"All I want for Christmas is a luxurious townhouse uptown near the park. Is that too much to ask Santa for? Back to reality—I would love a week away in the country with a few close friends and of course, my dog Hendrix. There would be no phones, no internet, and no work. We'd sleep in, go to the gym every day, hike, and cook delicious fresh food together. Heaven!"
BART KACZANOWICZ, BEAUTY BLOGGER, (OMG)BART!:
"While I really lust for a post-Kybella jawline, the latest Biologique Recherche La Grande Crème tops my current wishlist. I am also dreaming of the new Vintner’s Daughter launch, which I heard about recently, quite literally, through the grapevine. Also, a holiday escape with my husband to Nosara, Costa Rica would be the ideal place for me to become a skincare minimalist. There, I would slather on two products head-to-toe: Avène sunscreen (day) and African Botanics Neroli Infused Marula Oil (night)."
AMANDA CHANTAL BACON, FOUNDER, MOON JUICE:
"One luxury item I'm dying to get? The Ziip microcurrent device. It's technology used originally for Bell's palsy patients to wake the facial muscles up. I've had a facial with a microcurrent device and my brows were lifted so dramatically that I felt like I had slept for days and I could see more clearly out of my fully opened eyes. Need this home version! A few practical items I need and plan to use in my everyday life are Outdoor Voices gear—which I wear to work with sweaters, to play with my son and, if I'm lucky, to actually work out—plus an Agnes Badoo belt sac for travel and busy days when my hands are full. It works perfectly with jeans and a white tee! Also, I'm looking forward to using our Bliss Miss with Tocomellows + Sex Dust. It's a sexy energy formula that keeps me ticking all year round, no sex required! And Night Beauty for a restful night's beauty sleep."
STEPHANIE FANTAUZZI, ACTRESS + CHARLOTTE'S BOOK COLUMNIST:
"I'd love yoga packages for Stanton Street Yoga in the Lower East Side, and weekends spent hiking and eating slowly upstate. I'd also love beauty visits with Dr. Shereene Idriss. And for however long or short, I'd like more reasons to disconnect in 2018."
RACHEL MILLER, CHARLOTTE'S BOOK EDITOR:
"Skincare-wise, I would love a big bottle of Everyday Oil and a session with a specialist in facial acupuncture. Life-wise, I want a vacation in a tropical spot with a great surf break and a secluded, gorgeous cabin, and I want someone else to make the arrangements so all I have to do is pack. I also want a banana yellow Porsche convertible from the 60s, skis, and a set of merino wool long underwear. And here's to Steph's plan to disconnect: me too, girl."
SARAH CARTER, CHARLOTTE'S BOOK STAFF WRITER:
"I want everything on our Holiday Luxe List! But in all seriousness: the Vintner's Daughter serum, Drunk Elephant's Trunk, (such a cute play on words, too) and the black & gold FitBit? Love. I also wouldn't mind a new set of makeup brushes for my kit. Smith Cosmetics' set looks amazing. Oh, and shoes! Love me a new pair of shoes. Top on my wishlist: Allbirds wool loungers and NOBULL trainers. With that said though, what I really want for Christmas and the new year is fewer presents and more presence. My 2017 was a year of amazing personal accomplishments, so I want to make 2018 more about nurturing my relationships. And a good place to start would be over Christmas dinner (with delicious pumpkin pie)."
MATT WATKAJTYS, CHARLOTTE’S BOOK CTO:
“I’d love a No Ka ’Oi yoga mat. I’ve worn my old one out. I also love to ski and snowboard (and stay warm, safe, and stylish on the slopes) so I’d love a pair of Colmar RECCO Rescue Ski Trousers and a matching Haines Waterproof Ski Jacket. Both equipped with an avalanche rescue signal, of course. Safety first!”
ROBIN SHOBIN, CHARLOTTE'S BOOK FOUNDER + EIC:
"I would like someone to gift me a Clear + Brilliant laser treatment ASAP so I can book an appointment before the holiday festivities start! I'm also dying to put an infrared sauna inside my home. I've become totally addicted! I'm eyeing a model from Clearlight."
