I'd Buy It Again: Supergoop! Rosemary + SPF Mist — It's Just Awesome
In our line of work, we try a lot of products: that means we know what we love, and why. "I'd Buy It Again" is a quick and dirty way to tell you about something we’ve tried and all the reasons why we like it. These are never sponsored posts—only opinions inspired by our obsessions.
WHAT’S THE BOTTOM LINE?
A genius SPF spray that you need to have in your suncare arsenal all year round.
WHAT IS IT?
Supergoop! Defense Refresh Setting Mist Broad Spectrum 50: It’s a makeup setting spray that helps control shine while also arming you with a dose of SPF. And it smells like rosemary and mint. It’s amazing.
WHO IS IT FOR?
All skin types and age ranges. The silica in the product is especially great for those with oily or combination skin. Personally, I’m 39 with combination skin.
WHAT’S THE STORY?
Supergoop! is one of our favorite suncare empires started by one of our CB crushes, Holly Thaggard (check out Holly’s beauty file where she admits to being a SoulCycle fanatic and loyal to vitamin D). Holly’s best friend was diagnosed with melanoma nearly a decade ago, and ever since Holly’s been fighting against skin cancer.
INGREDIENTS?
Active Ingredients: Avobenzone 3.0%, Homosalate 4.0%, Octinoxate 6.0%, Octisalate 3.0%. Inactive Ingredients: Alcohol Denat., Butyloctyl Salicylate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Isododecane, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Stem/Leaf Oil, Mentha Viridis (Spearmint) Leaf Oil, PVP, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil, Silica Silylate, Water. The Avobenzone 3%, Homosalate 4%, Octisalate 3%, and Octinoxate 6% all deliver broad-spectrum sun protection. The Silica Silylate helps to control oil and reduce shine. The Rosemary Leaf Oil and Peppermint Stem/Leaf Oil soothe redness while providing an uplifting sensory experience.
HOW DOES IT SMELL?
A subtle dash of rosemary and mint.
HOW DO YOU USE IT?
Instructions say “Shake. Shake. Shake to ensure the UV protective emulsion is evenly distributed." This is very true. Don’t forget to vigorously shake. Spray 4-5 mists around your face. I like to keep it in my bag when I know I am going to be in sunny situations (outdoor shopping mall anyone? Or a fun outdoor brunch!) and not able to re-apply sunscreen.
HOW LONG DID I TEST IT FOR?
I started using this a year ago when I took it on vacation with me. I included it in my summer skincare essentials.
HOW MUCH IS IT?
It costs $8.oo - $28.00 depending on the size. How long it lasts really depends on how often you use it.
WHERE CAN I BUY IT?
Sephora, Dermstore WORKS WELL WITH? Don’t stop using your regular sunscreen. I use this as a refresher product when I need it. Or, if you forget to put on sunscreen and are running around bare faced, keep the tiny bottle in your purse and spritz. Its not the same as putting on your sunscreen in the morning but its better than going without.
WHAT’S GOOD ABOUT IT?
Despite my dedication, I forget to put on sunscreen. A lot. Having the tiny bottle of this on hand gives me an easy fallback. And we all know we're supposed to re-apply when out in the sun on vacation, but often I don’t. This is just so much easier to use than having to slather on a new coat of sunscreen. And it controls shine and smells good!
DRAWBACKS?
If not shaken well, the product is not well dispersed. And I could see how someone might think it’s a little tacky or sticky. To get around the drawbacks, shake it, shake it, and shake it. And really “mist” your face. Don’t point and shoot.
WOULD I BUY THIS AGAIN?
Yes! Absolutely!
