Things We Love At The Organic Pharmacy
The Organic Pharmacy has long been a go-to in London for discriminating best-self seekers who prefer an organic approach to their skincare regimen and overall wellness. When the first U.S. pharmacy opened in Beverly Hills a few years back, it was an instant smash and is still a hot spot for glow-conscious celebrities like Anne Hathaway, Naomi Watts, Demi Moore and Michelle Pfeiffer, to name only a few. Last year the Organic Pharmacy opened in New York, and Charlotte's Book was one of the first in line (of course). The store is stocked with over 400 organic goodies, from pharmaceutical grade herbal tinctures and detox kits to nourishing baby products, natural makeup and cutting-edge anti-aging elixirs. Here are a just a few of our favorite things:
The Cleanser
The Organic Pharmacy's best-selling cleanser is the Carrot Butter Cleanser, $74, an oil-based (jojoba oil, shea butter, cocoa butter, carrot oil) cleansing balm that melts into your skin, binding to and removing grime, dirt, dead skin and makeup. It also has rosemary and lavender, which is just as soothing to your skin as the scent is to your soul.
The Serum
Their Gene Expression Lifting Serum, $330, contains antioxidants, vitamins, peptides, sea algae, stem cells, growth factors, lifting herbs, hyaluronic acid, and a one-of-a-kind natural, non-irritating version of retinol—all this works to slow down the aging process of the genes in your cells, while lifting and plumping your skin.
The Tincture
The Organic Pharmacy is famous for their tinctures, but we especially love their Clear Skin Tincture, $22, a combination of liver cleansing Dandelion and Schizandra, hormone balancing Red Clover and Agnus Castus and disinfecting Marigold help keep the skin healthy and clear. Put 30 drops into a small glass of water three times a day and your skin will feel clearer in ten days.
The Herbal Detox
We highly recommend checking out this herbal cleanse: The Organic Pharmacy 10-Day Detox program, $169, was developed specially to suit the needs of your modern life, and the good thing is you can do it all without starving yourself. This cleanse is all supplements, so it's a lot easier to follow than typical detox programs. It's also more portable—take it on the go! (More on this to come as our founder, Robin Shobin, reports on her herbal cleanse.)
The Facial
Nestled in the back of the boutique behind a panel screen is a comfortable treatment table for "express" spa services, which are abbreviated versions of their most popular facials offered in the bigger spas located in London and L.A. We recommend The Rose Crystal Lymphatic Facial, $75. The service begins with lavender-infused deep breathing exercises, followed by a deep cleansing.
The Health Assessment
While at the pharmacy you can also get a one-on-one Health Assessment, $200, with their head homeopath, which involves using a BioEnergetic device that scans your body in three minutes to asses organ function, toxicity, vitamin and mineral deficiencies, hormone balance, immune function, body oxygenation, digestive disorders and stress. This is no doubt the perfect wellness service to try before the new year to help one prioritize their 2016 resolutions.
