My Beauty File: Cheryl Yannotti Foland, Founder of lilah b.
Cheryl Yannotti Foland is the founder of lilah b., a minimalistic beauty brand known for its signature pebble compacts (so chic) and collection of multi-purpose makeup products like their beloved lip & cheek duos and highlight/bronzer duo.
Following a move from Manhattan to California, Cheryl adopted a more simple lifestyle and created lilah b. to encourage women to declutter, simplify their beauty routines, and achieve effortless beauty with fewer products. In her Beauty File, Cheryl reveals how she embodies the same "less is more" philosophy in her day-to-day life, including her no-fuss skincare routine and her stance on facial oils.
Morning skincare:
Easy peasy. For skincare, I'm as much a minimalist as I am with color. Tatcha’s Camellia Cleansing Oil, RéVive Sensitif moisturizer with SPF and their eye cream is my go-to simple and easy regimen.
I always finish with our Aglow Face Mist whether I'm wearing makeup or not!
Morning breakfast:
With exercise in the mornings, I require a bit of carbs to jumpstart, so I’ll usually have a cup of coffee (a must) and a multigrain English muffin. On casual weekend mornings, I’ll add a poached egg and avocado.
Night skincare:
Same as my morning skincare, but I’ll also use Drunk Elephant’s Baby Facial every Sunday night for a “mini facial” that gives me a fresh glow for the week ahead.
Supplements:
I like to think that I get everything I need from my healthy diet, so I just take a daily vitamin formulated specifically for women.
Fitness:
Cycling, running, and yoga are absolutely necessary activities for stress relief and to get those creative juices flowing. I try to do some form of exercise at least 4 days/week depending on my work travel.
Tech:
I can’t live without my iPhone, particularly when running a beauty brand and all that goes on with social. It’s pretty much connected to me all the time. Good news is that I'm not a television person and rarely turn it on except to watch the news.
I am IN LOVE with my new AirPods, particularly on my solo runs. Where have they been all my life?
Hair:
Playa’s Ritual Hair Oil is my go-to for taming the frizzies and giving my hair extra shine. It doesn’t flatten my thin hair and is the perfect remedy for San Francisco foggy days!
Dermatologist or facialist:
Derm for sure. I LIVE for my annual fraxel laser treatments with Dr. Megin Scully here in SF.
Wellness:
I try to get a massage at least once per month but these days, it’s difficult to make the time. Downtime is so important to unwind and shut down the brain, even if it's only for 90 minutes at the spa!
My best piece of beauty advice:
Drink plenty of water and don’t forget the SPF — rain or shine!
My best piece of life advice:
Work hard, persevere, but be sure to enjoy the journey along the way!
Biggest beauty myth:
You shouldn’t use oils on your face if you have oily skin! Not true. I love my cleansing oils!
My Charlotte:
My mom, of course! She taught me so many things — family comes first, how to create a home, but most importantly, to believe in myself and to pursue any and all of my dreams.
