I'd Buy It Again: Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptide Cream Review
In our line of work, we try a lot of products: that means we know what we love, and why. I’d Buy It Again is a quick and dirty way to tell you about something we’ve tried and all the reasons we love it. These are never sponsored posts—only honest opinions inspired by our obsessions. This time around, we’re talking about the Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptide Cream.
What's the bottom line?
If you need a hydrating moisturizer, firmer skin, or collagen support, get your hands on Protini.
What is it?
Protini is a protein moisturizer that replenishes the skin and restores its firmness and strength. The name was inspired by the protein shots Drunk Elephant founder Tiffany Masterson adds to her smoothie every morning for muscle support. Tiffany wanted to create a moisturizer that would add a boost of protein to the skin, the same way her protein smoothies boost her body. Proteins are responsible for keeping our skin elastic and firm, so this is a great anti-aging product.
Who's it for?
Protini is for all skin types. I have dry, sensitive skin so I’m always wary when I try a new product. Let me tell you—that fear was unfounded when it comes to Protini. It hasn’t irritated my skin at all. I also raved about the product to my mom, who was in search of a new moisturizer. She started using it a week ago and is loving it too!
What are the ingredients?
Filled with nine different peptides, marula oil, waterlily stem cell extract, and a whole host of amino acids, the moisturizer does its job without any skin-hurting ingredients.
How does it smell?
There's barely a smell, but if I had to describe it, I'd say it just smells clean, with a tiny hint of coconut.
How do I use it?
Full disclosure: I’m not nearly as disciplined with my skincare routine as I should be. But I've been trying! I've been using Protini regularly at nighttime, post-cleanse and serum. I love how hydrated and soft my skin feels when I go to bed. Protini's a great start to the day as well (it is a day and night cream, after all), and I really like moisturizing with it before doing my makeup. You can use the Protini as a moisturizer on its own, but you can also add a shot of it to other Drunk Elephant products to give them a protein boost—just mix in your hand and you're good to go.
How long did I test it for?
I started using Protini right when it launched, so for about three months now. Protini held its own during this New York winter (and we’ve had our fair share of brutal winds and dry, cold weather).
What's good about it?
This moisturizer is heavy-duty enough to actually hydrate the skin, but it doesn’t leave your skin looking or feeling greasy. My skin easily absorbs the Protini, and I can honestly say my face is softer, smoother, and more hydrated than it’s ever been. And that's saying a lot, given how tough the winter usually is on my skin. I also really like the signature Drunk Elephant airless pump, which not only dispenses the perfect amount of product, but also leaves the rest of the pot untouched.
I have no complaints!
Would I buy it again?
Yes, I absolutely would!
